Seldom are cases like this imaginary. They are very real. Here are my questions -
1) Is this insect related such as mites? If so, the mites should be easily noticeable, and there would be bite marks and blisters on the affected people. Mites are also usually easily seen crawling on walls and furniture and can be captured in glue traps for identification.
2) Is this a mold / mold spore issue? Mold could be inside the walls caused by the moisture trapped by the TYVEK material. Heat treatments could make this worse in some cases.
3) Environmental issues. All kinds of environmental allergens could be the cause.
Bottom line, I don't have any easy remedies. I would suggest getting a mold test performed if it hasn't been done already. Mites can easily be seen and captured, but molds, pollens, spores etc can be microscopic. If none of this sounds plausible, then talking to an allergist - immunologist might be the right call. The next best step would be checking for mold, allergens or irritants in the home environment. An allergist can run tests to pinpoint what’s triggering your symptoms.
