Gnats or nats come from the outdoors and are difficult to control. You can treat or spray outdoors (lawn and under shrubs, decks, etc), using any insecticide such as Bifen to get some control.
Indoors, use these products to kill them -
Temprid Ready to Use Spray can be used to treat the soil around houseplants where they may be nesting and breeding. You can also spray window sills, etc. Its a great product, but don't spray it into the air.
Goldstick Fly Trap - Place this on a table or hang it from the ceiling.
CB 80 - Fog the rooms, kitchen, etc where you see the gnats. This can is used by simply pointing it into the air and pushing the button on top. It sprays (fogs) the pyrethrum into the air and kills the gnats. 2-3 seconds per room is all it takes. The entire can will spray about 300 seconds, you can fog your house the rest of the year with 1 can.
Other than this, gnats are difficult to control. If they are coming from houseplants, drains, etc, then that is easy to control. But they always usually come from outside, and it is virtually impossible to control them outside.
Regular spraying outdoors, and the use of the products mentioned above indoors are the best control measures and will give the best results.
Hope this helps.
