Red Flour Beetles are not capable of living in a drain or sewer. They are grain pests and live and breed in flour, whole grains, wheat, etc. They are called a "food product pest" because this is where they live and this is what they eat.
Red Flour beetles are strong fliers, and chances are, the they are infesting something in your home and during certain times become active. They can and will fly towards light when living in dark areas. If there is a window over the bathtub or in the bathroom, then they are flying towards it, and landing in the bathtub.
Please think about what I am explaining and then see if this makes sense. If you live on a farm where there is an abundance of grains, etc, then that is where they are coming from. Other than that, they are probably in your pantry or some food stuff. Not living or breeding in the bathtub.
Let me know what you think.

There are many species of beetles that look similar to the naked eye, but they all have individual differences. It really sounds like some species of cockroach or water beetle.

I have the same problem in Sparks Nevada. I had the Division of Forestry come out and gave him ample samples. They are either in the drain pipes or the vent pipes. I thought they were the red bark beetles but he said they were not but would get back to me. They are not flour beetles. I have no beetles in my pantry or in my flour or pasta or any grain products. They are about 1/4 “ long and are reddish brown. They just keep coming.
