Before anything is sprayed, the mites have to be identified. The only way to do this is to capture them and send them to a university with an entomology department and a mite specialist (acarologist) on staff. It is nearly impossible to determine the species of mite without the help of a mite expert and a high-powered microscope. Alpine and Onslaught are both good products, but the question is this: are you dealing with bird mites or something else? Generally, mites don't leave bruises, and they generally don't infest cars. If you had a severe bird mite infestation in most cases you could find them on the walls, ceiling, etc. If you cannot find anything that resembles a mite, there is a good chance you are not dealing with mites.
