The active ingredient in Talpirid is Bromethalin, the same active ingredient in many rodent baits. Basically, Talpirid is a gummy worm that contains a rodent bait. So if animals consume this there could be a hazard.
We do not recommend to use this product anywhere animals such as dogs could gain access. Although I have not heard of any issues such as dogs digging them up and eating them, I suppose it could happen.
An alternative is to place a concrete paver, bricks, etc, over the application site. I don't know that this would totally solve the problem, but at least it would make the worms less accessible.
