The Ant Pro Dispensers won't attract ants. What happens is that the scout ants randomly forage for food sources. When they find the Ant Pros, they drop a "pheromone scent" that "recruits" worker ants to come feed. This doesn't happen overnight either. It takes a few weeks or longer to get this going.
Ants that are not infesting your property will hopefully be intercepted by the Ant Pros BEFORE they find your deck or home. That is the real value, is that this system not only takes care of ants that are inside your home, it also takes care of future invading ants.
Ant Pros can be placed anywhere on your property. Normally, for ants that indoors, the Ant Pros need to remain fairly close, but this isn't always the case. Some people place them far away from their house just to try to keep the ants as far away as possible.
Bottom line, this system doesn't attract ants. It just feeds them.
