The Hex Pro Stations should be opened at least 1 time every 3 months and inspected. Look for termite activity of course, but also check to make sure that they are not full of water, ants, slugs, insects, etc. NEVER spray pesticides inside the stations, but you CAN use an ant bait at the surface. Just make sure that no ant bait gets into the stations.
If water is a problem, take appropriate action, even move the station if you have to.
When you find termite activity inside the Hex Pro Stations, replace the wood detectors with the Shatter Cartridge. Be sure to unrwrap and remove the plastic sleeve that it is shipped in.
When you find that the termites have consumed about 75 of the shatter cartridge and IF they are still active, replace it. This should not happen very often.
Another good PRO tip, is to soak the Shatter Cartridges in Lime Gatorade and then drain them thoroughly before inserted them. Termites love sugar sources and for some reason, Gatorade is reported to encourage their feeding. Whether or not you decide to do this is up to you.
When all of the termite activity has stopped, no further feeding is going on, you can either remove the stations, or replace the wood and continue monitoring for as long as you wish.
Hope this helps.
