The DynaFog is only a machine that creates the fog or what is called a "ULV" or Ultra Low Volume mist. The actual chemical that you use is different.
Most ranches, etc, that use chemicals for fly control use either Riptide which natural pyrethrins or Vector Ban Plus, which is synthetic pyrethrins. This is for indoor use. You can "spray" these products outdoors, with a hand held or some type of pressure sprayer, but I would not recommend to use the DynaFog outdoors.
The DynaFog creates a ULV mist or fog, that if applied outdoors, will simply blow away in the wind, similar to what smoke would do. For that reason, this machine is primarily used indoors.
As far as reports of issues with horses eating sprayed grass? I have never heard of any problems. Just let everything dry before letting the horses back onto the sprayed area. You can also use both of the products that I mention as a "Dip" and apply them directly to the horses, cattle, etc.
