Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait will kill fire ants or any ant that feeds on it. The only problem is that it is not an instant kill. It takes 3-4 weeks to get control, due to the fact that it is a slow acting bait. Most people want a faster kill of fire ants mounds, so fast acting baits or sprays are commonly used.
The bottom line is that it will kill fire ants, just takes time.

Yes, its all the same amount of time for all ants. It really depends on how fast they find the stations, begin feeding, etc. Once they begin feeding (could take some time for that to happen) it then takes 3-4 weeks for them to die.

If it worked any faster, the ants would get smart and not consume it. It has to work slow enough to be able to penetrate through all phases of the nest before it begins killing them. Otherwise, the ants know they are being poisoned and will stop feeding. Ants are very smart. Thats why they have been around for over 200,000 millions years.
This is also why most over the counter baits don't work completely. Fire ants are different. You have a colony that is captive. Most ants, you can never find the nest. Thats why the KM Ant Pro and the Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait work so well. But it does take some time.
