It depends on how saturated the wood is with moisture. If it is dripping with moisture, then a dehumidifier probably won't work. Basically if it is very wet, then other issues need to be resolved. Some moisture will actually help the borate to saturate the wood. The moisture in the wood will help to pull the borates into the cells, whereas, dry wood takes much longer.
I honestly don't think that using a dehumidifier for a few days will resolve any moisture issues inside the wood. It will help the ambient air, and probably appear to help, but the wood will still retain a lot of moisture if it is very wet.
