If the fridge is sealed shut and there are no leaks, then the gnats have to be originating inside somewhere. They could be inside - under the motor housing, in the seal on the doors, or even in the insulation of the door panels, etc.
I would recommend to clean out the fridge and wipe it down and make sure that they can't get inside through a leaky seal, etc. Other than that, hope that this is a fluke and it cycles out in a few days. Gnats are not attracted to fruit fly traps, so those will not work in this situation.
CB-80 will work to kill gnats that may be flying around in the kitchen - https://www.epestcontrol.com/pest-products/536-1807-CB-80-Fogging-Insecticide-W
ith-Pyrethrum.html It can also be sprayed inside the fridge if it is empty to kill them. Be sure to wipe it down and clean it before putting food back inside.
