There are many reason why you have this "sensation" of bugs or insects crawling on you. There is a clinical diagnosis of this called "Formication". Here is a link that discusses it.
I have talked with hundreds of people over the years about this exact same thing you a describing, and can tell you that in over 99% of the cases, it was traced back to either a Prescription Medication change or an interaction between Prescription meds, foods, side effects of these meds, etc.
It can also be traced to simple allergies, dry skin, shampoos, etc.
My advice is to not think of this as an insect unless you can actually see an insect. It is a "sensation" and what is called "crawling skin syndrome" linked to Formication.
Treat this as such, don't spray insecticides unless you can see the insects and know exactly what they are.
