In order to kill and control spiders you need to spray them directly. The long legs of most spiders helps prevent them from directly contacting dried chemical residues. Bifen I/T is a good general use insecticide that can be used indoors and outdoors to control spiders. It has very little odor and water staining is minimal on dark surfaces. Be sure to directly spray as many spiders as possible for best results. Glue traps placed behind furniture, beds, along walls, etc indoors will help to capture spiders.
