20 stations and only 6 cartridges? shouldn't there be a cartridge for every station?

My Hex-Pro station has minor wood damage.
Can the always active bait in sentricon cartridges get replaced with Shatter bait from Hex Pro. Will it fit?
I live in CT. Since termites aren't active outdoors in the winter, do I still need to check the Hex Pro as often?
